Short Term Accommodation (STA) in Bexley

A safe, comfortable stay with personalised support built around each participant’s routines and needs.

A Safe, Comfortable Stay With Support You Can Trust

Sena Care provides planned Short Term Accommodation in a welcoming Bexley home. Each stay is thoughtfully organized around the participant’s routines, communication, interests, goals and assessed support needs.

STA gives participants time away from their usual care arrangements while receiving the disability-related support they need in a safe and supportive environment.

Time Away With the Right Support

Short Term Accommodation provides an overnight stay together with the everyday disability supports a participant normally requires.

A planned stay can offer a positive change in routine, opportunities to build confidence and independence, and time to enjoy new social and community experiences. It also gives family members and other primary informal supports an opportunity to take a planned break from their caring responsibilities.

STA is disability support—not holiday accommodation—and every stay must be appropriate to the participant’s needs, NDIS plan and funding.

Support That Feels Familiar

We take time to understand each participant’s communication, preferences, routines and support requirements so they can feel comfortable and understood during their stay.

Everyday Living Support

Participants can receive assistance with personal care, daily routines, meal preparation, household activities and building everyday living skills.

Confidence and Community Connection

Participants are supported to make choices, develop independence and enjoy appropriate recreational, social and community activities.

A Welcoming Home in Bexley

Our Bexley home provides a calm and comfortable environment with personal space and welcoming shared living areas.

Participants can relax, take part in familiar household routines and enjoy suitable activities at home or within the local community. Sena Care’s Kogarah Community Hub may also be used for appropriate planned activities.

Before confirming a stay, we consider accessibility, compatibility, staffing, preferences, support requirements and safety to ensure the arrangement is suitable for everyone.

Depending on the participant’s individual assessment, plan and agreed arrangements, STA support may include:

• Personal care and daily routines
• Meal preparation and eating or drinking assistance
• Medication assistance in accordance with current documentation
• Communication and behaviour support strategies
• Support with health and safety routines
• Daily living and independence-building activities
• Support to participate in suitable social and community activities
• Evening and bedtime routines
• Overnight support based on assessed needs
• Communication with the participant’s chosen family members, guardians or support network

Before confirming an STA stay, our team meets with the participant and their chosen support network to understand:

  • Individual goals and preferred routines
  • Communication and decision-making preferences
  • Personal care and mobility requirements
  • Medication and health support needs
  • Mealtime and dietary requirements
  • Behaviour support strategies
  • Accessibility requirements
  • Preferred activities and interests
  • Required staffing and overnight support
  • Emergency and safety information

This planning helps us determine whether Sena Care can safely and appropriately provide the required support.

STA may be suitable for participants who:

* Require disability-related assistance during an overnight stay
* Would benefit from planned time away from their usual care arrangements
* Want to develop independence and confidence

How long can an STA stay be?

The NDIS generally funds STA for up to 28 days per year and normally for no more than 14 consecutive days. The amount and way it can be used depend on the participant’s individual plan and approved funding.

Are meals and activities included?

Staff can provide meal preparation and mealtime assistance as part of the participant’s support. However, food, activity fees, tickets and other ordinary personal expenses are not generally paid from STA funding and will be discussed before the stay.

Can we visit the Bexley home first?

Yes. Participants and their chosen supporters can arrange a home visit before deciding whether the setting may be suitable.

How do we arrange a stay?

Contact Sena Care with the participant’s preferred dates, general support requirements and funding arrangements. We will discuss availability and explain the assessment and planning process. Sensitive documentation should only be provided through an agreed secure process.
